All My Sons: Millers Chief Criticism Of American Society Essay examples

Every one of My Sons: Miller's Chief Criticism Of American Society      A shot was heard all through the Keller home as Joe finished his liable, useless life. Mill operator scrutinizes that American culture has become degenerate a spot of self-centeredness, where individuals care a lot about themselves, and that which benefits them, and will go to any lengths to accomplish that objective; regardless of whether the repercussions of their activities will carry mischief to others. He focuses that cash is by all accounts the key factor that drives society to this degree of debasement.      Miller underlines this point in a few different ways. The main model is that Keller purposely sends out split chamber heads, that will crash a plane whenever utilized, to keep his business from failing, asserting that he did it for his family. The subsequent model is that Sue would prefer Jim make apportion of cash, and not do clinical exploration which is the thing that he truly needed to do. The third model is Jim's relinquishment of his quest for clinical exploration do to the absence of benefit included. In his play "All My Sons," Miller makes it evident that society in general qualities cash and benefit more than human life. He shows this by his depiction of Keller. Keller sends out broke chamber heads, mindful that in flight they will make planes crash, to spare his business from being closed down. Moreover, he proceeds to permit the fault to fall on Steve, so as to spare hims...

Patients Presentation Of Condition Risk Health And Social Care Essay

A portion of the patients that get dental intercession have a background marked by wretchedness. It is evaluated that 1 of every 10 US adults have despondency, fitting to the most momentum informations and measurement of Center for Disease Control and Prevention ( CDC ) , Division of Adult and Community Health1. A significant number of those patients have some evaluation of tension when sitting on the dental seat that may even get down at their assurance to make a trip to the tooth specialist. Melancholy and related tension adversely influence patients ‘ perceptual experience of themselves and universe around them, doing them to hold low confidence and self-adequacy. As a result, they will in general protect themselves from society and disregard certain necessities. An incredible representation is their pick to abstain from making a trip to the dental office and pretermiting their dental cleanliness, in spite of their use of upper xerogenic prescriptions and in numerous occurre nces lack of healthy sustenance. Sorrow other than unfavorably impacts patients ‘ feelings towards occasions and results in their everyday life. For case, they may be disappointed with the dental intercession they are having or its result paying little heed to how great the existent mediation is. Along these lines, it is of import to non simply better their unwritten cleanliness yet adjacent to take the best, most pragmatic intercession program that will facilitate the procedure on the patients and the tooth specialist at a similar clasp, and will in a perfect world take to their since a long time ago run satisfaction.SignificanceAs human services experts, tooth specialists should hold the capacity to grok every patient ‘s cultural, clinical and mental history and its effect on dental mediation and result. It is other than should be expected that we can function as a crew with quiet ‘s essential clinical doctor and head-shrinker to situate an intercession program that depends on a significant worry of patient ‘s status.AimThe motivation behind this paper is to examine the outcome of wretchedness on patients ‘ unwritten cleanliness, and break down the aftereffect of dental mediation of adult patients with history of misery, contrasted with grown-up dental patients without depression.Patient ‘s introduction of status or hazardThe persistent being talked about in this paper has a long history of sadness and uneasiness. She presents with edentulous maxillary curve and mostly edentulous inframaxillary curve with seriously carious, analytic dentition. Those five agonizing dentitions were other than itinerant, with horrible bone downturn. Her maxillary dental plate and inframaxillary RPD were wiped out modification, broken, recolored and had an awful olfactory property. Understanding required full extractions and new upper jaw and inframaxillary dental plates.Clinical QuestionWill grown-up dental patients with a background marked by despondency have a decent unwrit ten cleanliness result, contrasted with grown-up patients without a past filled with depression?LITERATURE REVIEWPICOPopulation:Adult dental patientsIntervention:Having a long history of depressionComparison:Not holding depressionResult:Improved unwritten hygieneSearch Scheme:All articles were looked using PubMed. The chose articles types were: Clinical Tests, controlled clinical tests, Randomized Control Trial, Review and Systematic Review. Search outcomes were more distant limited by picking only universes as hypothetical records, English etymological correspondence, and distribution under 10 mature ages prior. Articles were picked in the wake of reevaluating rubrics and abstracts, and chose dependent on pertinence to the subject and most elevated evaluation of grounds. Utilizing the watchwords â€Å" side effects of wretchedness, † â€Å" dental intercession † and â€Å" dental conduct † the primary article, Symptoms of despondency and tension corresponding t o dental health conduct and self-saw alveolar consonant mediation request, was result 1 of 15 and it was chosen. None of different outcomes were pertinent to the subject, so another sent of catchphrases were utilized: â€Å" gloom † and â€Å" untreated dental pits. † 6 outcomes were found, yet the primary result, Depressive indications and untreated dental pits in more seasoned freely, was the most pertinent. Furthermore, to pick an article focusing on melancholy and self-pride, the undermentioned watchwords were utilized: â€Å" Oral wellbeing position, † â€Å" gloom, † and â€Å" mental self view. † Article, Self-Liking, Self-Competence, Body Investment and Perfectionism: Associations with Oral Health Status and Oral-Health-Related Behaviors, was result 7 of 24, and it was picked dependent on its pertinence and quality in answer the clinical request. Every one of the three articles were cross-sectional, which is a frail kind of study. Fitting to ADA, a cross-sectional overview is one â€Å" is the perception of a characterized populace at an individual point in cut or in a predefined cut interim. Introduction and result are resolved simultaneously † ( ADA-Center for Evidence Based Dentistry ) 2. Solid affiliation and causing can non be closed from this kind of study ; just frail affiliation can be derived. There were an extremely hardly any foundational reappraisals in the chase results, however none of them were applicable to the subject of this occasion study. Clinical tests and accomplices were other than non seen as pertinent to the subject or help answer the clinical request. Moreover, two of the three articles were led outside the U.S. , albeit distributed in English. There were no practically identical surveies among the chase outcomes that were done in the U.S. ( previews of the chase plot joined to the dorsum of t his examination ) .Article Analysis:As an outcome of the chase conspire, three articles were chosen to go to the above-named clinical request. The initial 1 is titled: Symptoms of Depression and Anxiety connection to dental health conduct and self-saw alveolar consonant intercession request. What mainly recognizes this review from others is the way that it does non simply look at dental cleanliness of patients with sorrow, yet it other than researches how those patients evaluate their interest for dental intercession and dental registration. Some portion of a fruitful dental intercession is to be perceptive and positive of its whole need and positive effect on your wellbeing. Something else, patients would be given to return back to their old unwritten cleanliness wonts, doing the intercession to disregard. This overview, blending to the scholars, is part of the Northern Finland 1966 Birth Cohort, which arbitrarily followed 96 % of all births in the conditions of Lapland and Oulu ( n=12,058 ) 3. A 1997-1998 since a long time ago run follow-up survey was sent to 31 and 32-year old members ( n=11,541 ) , and 75.3 % ( n=8,690 ) of them responded3. The poll enquired about: their instruction level, family salary, self-saw dental mediation and dental wellbeing behavior2. Research laborers separated the gathered informations into two boss parts dependent on indications of despondency and tension as controlled by the downturn and uneasiness subscales of Symptom Checklist-25. SCL-25 is a 25-question self-report learn about the nearness and grade of burdensome and nervousness indications over the old week3. For the aim of this example study, only information identified with manifestations of despondency is broke down. The outcomes of this review were more distant isolated dependent on the quality of gloom, discouraged ( n=1,263 ) , gentle indications ( n=657 ) , and non discouraged ( n=6,702 ) 3. The per centum of down, mellow indications of melancholy and non down points depicting brushing their dentitions twice a twenty-four hours was 47.9 % , 52.2 % and 55.6 % severally, and portraying successive dental registration one time or more in a 2-year term was 64.9 % , 65.4 % , and 69.7 % respectively3. Most strikingly, the per centum of members who communicated apparent alveolar consonant mediation request was 61.1 % , 60.4 % , and 48.4 % respectively3. Subsequent to telling for befuddling factors, including sexual orientation, guidance and family pay, results indicated that there is a related among sorrow and both toothbrushing twice day by day and successive dental registration. As the quality of burdensome side effects expansion, the frequence of tooth brushing and dental registration decreasing. All the more intriguingly, this overview demonstrated that patients who have a higher evaluation of discouragement will in general experience that they need progressively dental mediation, when contrasted with those with less manifestations or non-discouraged. Along these lines, look into laborers deduced in this study patients with melancholy will in general hold hapless unwritten cleanliness wonts. Essayists endeavored to explain this relationship by attributing discouragement to tire, psychomotor deceleration and lack of rationale, which are generally factors that impede patients from executing everyday life necessities that can be ea ch piece straightforward as toothbrushing. Besides, energizer meds are known to do dry mouth, which may loan to expanded dental pits and more terrible unwritten health. All in all, the outcomes in this overview and the treatment gave by the essayists continue legitimately dependent on the data introduced. They plainly region their speculation and rundown the gathered informations in efficient and simple to peruse even arraies. True to form, the scholars do non guarantee 'cause and result relationship ‘ . They, all things considered, guarantee a relationship between the dependant and free factors as talked about above. This case is defended by their informations examination and research strategy, which is a cross-sectional study. This sort of review has its ain disadvantages that we as research laborers and experts ought to be insightful of, so as to abstain from pulling the off base choices and utilizing them on our patients. It is significant that we comprehend the failings and the qualities in this study to perceive its limitations in facility

Odds Ends

Odds Ends Happy New Year! I hope you guys are having a great 2008 so far. Congrats to all of you who got your applications in on time. :-) And being a second-semester senior really is pretty awesome; I still remember those days enjoy them! 390 522 Ive been noticing lots of speculation all over the web about the reasons behind our increasing the number of EA admits from last years 390 to this years 522. Fear not, we have no plans to increase the class size, nor are we abandoning the principle of enrolling a maximum of one third of our class in EA. Recent changes in the early application policies of some of our peer institutions have increased the number of outstanding applications to MIT and to many other highly selective schools. Each universitys yield (the percentage of students who accept their offer of admission) is predicted to decrease accordingly, and the increase in the number of students admitted to MIT in Early Action is simply a reflection of this. Snively I mentioned in this entry that we couldnt hire Snively as a blogger, despite a significant public outcry of support, because of the Burton-Conner rule. After weeks of people picketing around the clock outside of 3-108, weve relented. Please go home now, youre scaring the prospective students. (Real reason: the other Burton-Conner bloggers collectively publish about as much as two, not three so theres room for Snively. At least thats how we justified it.) Evan Broders Holiday Card is perhaps the cutest thing on the planet (thanks Ms. Broder!). If he doesnt start blogging again soon, I will scan it in and publish it here. Valentines Day is coming! Process Design for Riordan Free Essays

Process Design for Riordan Manufacturing OPS/571 February 18, 2013 Robin Hundley-Solomon Process Design for Riordan Manufacturing Riordan Manufacturing, and its parent company Riordan Industries, Inc. is a Fortune 1000 company (University of Phoenix, 2013). Riordan’s future is focused on remaining profitable while ensuring that financial and human capital is available for continue growth (University of Phoenix, 2013). We will write a custom essay sample on Process Design for Riordan or any similar topic only for you Order Now Remaining financially viable and competitive in the global environment requires the manufacturing plant in China to evaluate current processes and address multiple aspects of the company’s design process. Primary in the process redesign is the Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP), the supply chain, accurate forecasting, and a viable implementation process with quality management components. Removing bottlenecks, incorporating Just-in-Time (JIT) inventories, minimizing waste, and including global opportunities will preposition Riordan Manufacturing for continued success. Manufacturing Resource Planning Manufacturing resource planning systems are a common resource in almost all manufacturing plants, large and small. MRP systems provide an easily understood approach to determining number of parts, materials, and schedules for ordering and production of these components (Chase, Jacobs, Aquilano, 2006). Because Riordan produces parts in batches using the same equipment, an MRP system will provide an avenue to optimize Riordan’s strategy for decreasing variance and waste in the supply and demand of their electric fans. The plant in China produces the plastic fan blades and fan housings. The electric fans are purchased from a local plant, shipped to Riordan and assembled to be sold as a finished product. The fan supplier has a 93% rate for on-time deliveries, delaying production if not available. Riordan keeps inventory and safety stock of easily obtained material, which incurs costs. Concern with scrap materials and a reduction in waste is imperative for Riordan’s China plant as it moves to implement new processes. Managing these inefficient processes by the use of an MRP system will reduce raw materials and finished goods inventory costs. The implementation of the MRP system will meet the goals of providing a master schedule for production, manage inventory levels, automate the ordering process to reduce waste, and reduce variability in supply and demand. These components must be managed effectively if Riordan is to remain competitive in the global market. Process Design The current process of Riordan Manufacturing is not optimal and must be significantly modified to remain a global leader. Because the delivery and supply of electric fans is inconsistent, bottlenecks can occur, delaying production. Stocking easily obtained polymer products increases inventory costs. Selecting alternative suppliers for fans will enable Riordan to ensure delivery of fans to meet production requirements and customer orders. The use of multiple sources reduces the need to have an inventory of fans. This implementation of a Just-in-time (JIT) inventory management system reduces inventory and storage costs, reduces waste products and improves the manufacturing process. This lean production and process is â€Å"based on the logic that nothing will be produced until it is needed† (Chase, Jacobs, Aquilano, 2006, p. 71). Optimization of strategic capacity planning, inventory management, and the production and scheduling of the products in the right place, at the right time, in the right amount increases revenue and efficiencies for the company (Shields, 1999). The use of flow management, which combines JIT and the capabilities of MRP produces a mix of products based on orders, and using the strea m of parts supplied just-in-time (Chase, Jacobs, Aquilano, 2006). Supply Chain Companies can gain competitive and strategic advantage with an efficient, streamlined supply chain process. To be cost-efficient companies eliminate non-value-added activities, create the best capacity utilization in production and distribution, and pursue economies of scale (Chase, Jacobs, Aquilano, 2006). Supply chain management performs the core function of product flow through the process of receiving raw materials to shipment of the final product. The China plant process is currently disjointed, without a central system to oversee receipt, inventory, production numbers, orders, and shipment. The implementation of a lean process with Just-in-Time inventory, automated accounting of raw materials, orders, invoices, and shipping schedules will minimize paperwork logjams, waste, and bottlenecks. Outsourcing and seeking global opportunities, such as assembly and shipping of the final product, in a location with less costs allows Riordan to focus only on the production of parts. Global product sourcing can help in lowering costs by purchasing the required material from other countries where it is available at low price. Multi-sourcing of electric fans allows for consistent delivery and competition among providers, also decreasing costs. Production Forecast The plant’s production forecast is based on the theory of moving averages. China’s manufacturing unit takes care of plastic polymers and electric motors required for production of fans. To calculate demands for next year production Riordan averages sales for the last three years. This average is the projection for the coming year (Riordan, 2006). Riordan also produces custom fans based on periodic orders from customers on a year to year basis. These forecast numbers are inaccurate and unpredictable and can lead to excess inventory and waste. The adoption of the lean process and Just-in-Time inventory is a best practice business strategy and concept to optimize capacity planning, inventory management, and production and scheduling of the products in the market at the optimal times and location. These processes plus the analysis of economic conditions will increase revenue for the company to meet corporate goals. Implementation Plan Adequate planning is necessary for success in the implementation of the new process. Evaluation at regular intervals with responsive and timely modifications enables Riordan to minimize resource utilization toward non-essential activities. Role definition and clear guidance are key in process design changes and Riordan must delineate carefully its implementation plan. For the JIT training project, it is best to divide the employees into two groups. Group one will start training with the education portion on Monday, February 18 through Wednesday, February 20. Group one can apply this learning in simulation training on the second half of the day on Wednesday, February 20 through Friday, February 22. The second week starting Monday, February 25 through Friday, March 1 Group one will apply learned knowledge and skills in an actual work setting. Supervisors will be on hand to help and employees can discuss any input, questions, and review any processes with the training supervisors. Group two will begin the education part of the training on Monday, February 25-Wednesday, February 27. Group two will apply this learning in simulation training on the second half of the day on Wednesday, February 27-Friday, March 1. The second week beginning Monday, March 4 through Friday, March 8, Group two will apply learned knowledge and skills in the actual work setting. Group two will do the same as Group one regarding the provision of input, questions, and review any processes as well. Automation has been added for the JIT process because this is a continuous process. The entirety of the first day is required to go through the receiving and molding processes. This links to the next process of trimming and assembly processes for the next two days. This allows more time to carefully put the products together. On the fourth day, it links the process to review and check for any product defects and count the excess waste. On the final day, it links with the previous process for packaging, cleanup, and recycle processes. Excess waste can be checked to determine what can be recycled into the raw materials inventory or given to the Chinese partners to dispose of the excess waste. Table one has been added for an illustration of the processes. Table One Cover Letter February 18, 2013 Riordan Manufacturing One Riordan Plaza San Jose, California 95112 Dear CEO: Team A is honored with the opportunity to introduce the proposal for implementation of Lean production and Total Quality Management (TQM) for improving the Process Design of Riordan Manufacturing. There are various options to track the current operational process in the firm. The selection of the right tools for Lean Production and Quality Management can provide insight regarding the material requirement planning and strategic needs to meet the demands of intermittent orders in addition to the current forecasting based on yearly demand. The proposal will identify the bottlenecks in the process of forecast demand and production plan, which will achieve the balance needed to satisfy the quantity of Riordan electric fans for the demand. TQM will determine the materials and personnel needed to produce the electric fans according to forecasted demand and assure that Riordan is producing quality products in an efficient manner. This implementation consisting of incorporating TQM, Just-in-Time inventories, minimizing waste, and including global opportunities, helps to extract the results of the project and provides the ability to forecast demand in an optimal way. Inception Movie Review free essay sample

It’s that time†¦ time for all of you to go out and experience Inception. Some of you may have seen the film, others not, I have tried my best to keep any and all spoilers out of this review while still talking about the film as a whole. If you haven’t seen it, you should be fairly safe, if you have, there’s plenty for you to argue with me about as this is a rather massive review to reflect my enormous opinion about it. Without anyone more pointless babble, lets get to it†¦ Players: Director/Writer: Christopher Nolan Cast: Leonardo DiCaprio (Cobb), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Arthur), Ellen Page (Ariadne), Tom Hardy (Eames), Ken Watanabe (Saito), Dileep Rao (Yusuf), Cillian Murphy (Robert Fischer, Jr. ), Tom Berenger (Browning), Marion Cotillard (Mal), Pete Postlethwaite (Maurice Fischer), Michael Caine (Miles), Lukas Haas (Nash) Cinematography: Wally Pfister Music: Hans Zimmer The Plot: Lets not talk about that shall we? The less you know the better (though that’s not to say that’s it’s hard to understand once you’re in the film ). We will write a custom essay sample on Inception Movie Review or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page The Good: The Overall Idea: This is one big concept to tackle. The idea of our dreams and how one effects them is a risky topic to tackle because it’s endless and quite complex. Nolan makes it not only easy to understand (in terms of the story) but raises many interesting debates on â€Å"mind travel† that will leave you arguing in comment sections on blogs for weeks to come! The Visuals: I don’t think I need to go in depth on this one. If you’ve seen a poster, a trailer, any artwork from this film, you know you’re in for a visual treat. It’s a beautiful film to watch especially certain scenes†¦ The Fred Astaire Throw Back: Absolutely amazing. In case the the â€Å"Fred Astaire† reference didn’t made sense to you, the scene I’m referring to (don’t worry it’s on posters and in the trailer) is the one with Joseph Gordan Levitt and Co. fighting in the hotel hallway — it’s a high-tech, action packed, and a direct throw back to when Fred Astaire walked up the wall for the first time and blew audiences away. Somehow Nolan has found a way to bring back that sense of wonder despite all the decades of special effects that have dulled audiences. I believe this scene was shot the good ol’ fashioned way with a rotating hallway and some wires. There is something about using camera techniques instead of CGI that is so much more fun to watch and gives the film a sense of integrity and wonder that most blockbusters wouldn’t both with. The Supporting Cast: This is for the Nolan new comers mostly — Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy and the rest all felt right at home in the film. They added to the acting credibility and gave us more than just one-liners. That being said, below I will talk about the problems with some of the repeat casting†¦ The Attempt: Despite how big of a director Nolan is, studios want him to make what works, not take any risks or attempt something out of the box. It would have been so easy for him and he would have been so loved by both audiences and studios for jumping into another Batman right after The Dark Knight. To add to that if this movie flops it could be detrimental to the sales of the next Batman. Nolan stepped away from a guaranteed hit and took a big risk on this film by following his dream and making something reminiscent of Memento but on the studios summer-action film dime. He’s ballsy on all levels and despite what I think about his film, I have to respect his decision to make this film, his process and for the most part the outcome of Inception. It wasn’t perfect but that’s because it wasn’t safe, he took a chance and came out successful. Which leads us to†¦ The Bad: Lack of a Wow Factor: Don’t crucify me yet, give me a moment to explain. Before I saw this movie I heard people making comments like â€Å"wow this movie is mind-blowing† and â€Å"I love walking out of a movie not fully understanding it† and that made me SO excited! I thought it was going to be like the Matrix all over again, where you have to watch it 10 times and write an essay to fully grasp it. That being said, I got this movie about half way through and there was no real surprise or twist for me. Once you get the character, who is quite simple, it’s all there and the story never contradicts it. Dialogue/Script: Once again Nolan is great at the grand concepts and this movie is about as big as one can get and I applaud him for going there, but with a limitless world, there sure was a lot of repeat dialogue and a lot of interesting things not discussed. Something tells me this was because someone got nervous about this film not having â€Å"mass appeal. † The fact is, this film would have been better with half the dialogue, not as much marketing spelling things out and letting the audience figure out some of the characters for themselves Leo in the Lead: Although in many ways his character Cobb is a â€Å"noble† character, at the heart of it all, he’s kind of a sap. Yes, it’s sweet that he loves a women, but he’s not fighting for anything that I really care about or can side with. It’s nice that â€Å"he wants his family back† and that’s only enough to make me pity him, not enough for me to follow him through anything and risk other characters lives who I find more interesting. He’s not fighting for humanity, the world, he’s just fighting for himself and in a movie of this scale, you need to care about more than just some selfish dude. That coupled with Leo constantly delivering the same lines and once again, his boyish good looks getting in his way, I never really bought his character nor cared about what happened to him. Repeat Casting: Yes I LOVE Michael Caine and Cillian Murphy but the fact is, I kept feeling like I was in the wrong movie and it was distracting. I wanted Murphy to go mad and poison people, and Caine to pour some hot tea and give Batman some advice. Although they are amazing actors, Nolan would have been better off finding a whole new cast or at least making them look different or changing their accents! Their dress and demeanor was too similar and therefore confusing for the audience. The Problem: Nolan takes an incredibly hard concept to grasp and tries to make it understandable for mass audiences (something I’m sure the studios wanted in order to make back their massive budget), but in trying to make it both a mind blowing experience and easy to grasp for everyone, it lost its luster and falls short of a complete mind-blowing experience. Nolan is capable of taking this film one step further, cutting the unnecessary dialogue and shaping it into a mind-boogling and yet entertaining film. He’s done it before with Memento, he did a great job at handling Batman, and in this one I feel like we get Nolan at 80% and I can’t help but wonder what he could have done if he would have gone all the way. I don’t know what the cause was, the script, the hero, the cut, or the studio, but something held this film back. This is a good film and enjoyable to watch, but not great and there was the potential in this to be something epic.

Alabama Immigration Law free essay sample

Policy Analysis I Paper CJA 463 Policy Analysis I Paper The new Alabama Immigration Law has set a new get tough standard for immigration law and policies. The law â€Å"[outlaws illegal immigrants from receiving any state or local public benefits, bars them from enrolling in or attending public colleges, and prohibits them from applying for or soliciting work]†. (Fausset,  para. 11) The Alabama Immigration Law also forbids the harboring and transport of illegal immigrants. The law also outlaws them from knowingly renting any type of facility or property and does not allow them to work any where in the sate. If a company has an illegal person on their payroll then it makes it an illegal practice to not hire a legal resident. A big issue that has come up in many debates is the fact that schools now have to verify the legality of students in their schools. It does not ban students from attending the school but it does require that the schools keep a report and send it in to the state board of education. The Governor of Alabama, Robert Bentley, initiated this bill into congress and it was passed. The bill takes effect on September 1st 2011. Opponents of the bill state that it is unconstitutional. Some of them even saying that it is going back to the pre civil rights era. People are afraid that students will be afraid to attend school in case they are found out to be illegal. If they are found to be illegal then their parents and family could be kicked out of their home, fired from their jobs and they could lose any benefits that they may have making it impossible for them to live. The fear is also that they will be harassed by other kids at the school making it hard for them to attend and learn. The constitutional issue that arises is the discrimination factor. Illegal immigrants are being discriminated against because of their background. It is against the constitution to do that. This has many people angry and looking to overturn the laws in Alabama because of this. This law is more of a regulatory policy because the government of Alabama passed the law to ban illegal immigrants from the state and the laws to enact this ban are going to be taken into effect. The policies and laws surrounding this new act will affect many people and organizations. The illegal immigrants are going to be affected but the police department will have to make a special unit to handle the illegal immigrants or the suspected illegal immigrants that are stopped and detained. This will cost the taxpayers more money and will cost the police department more money because they will have to build bigger facilities, hire more work force and ensure that everyone is multilingual that works on these task forces. Those that do not have the funds to build bigger holding facilities will have to incur the costs to transport the illegal immigrants to other facilities within the state to hold until another unit comes in and verifies their status. The schools will have to hire a whole team that counts and ensures legal status for all children in the school. This unit would need to be multilingual to help with the needs of the illegal immigrant children and to ensure they knew what to do with these statistics. The school system will incur many costs because the unit will have to research and prepare a report stating their findings to the state board of education in Alabama. The state as a whole will be affected because employers will be afraid to hire anyone that does not â€Å"look† American. The employers have to hire another set of employees just to handle the paperwork involved in the e-verify system and to ensure all of their employees are legally authorized to work in the United States. This will cost the employers more money and will leave them little to no room to give incentive raises or merit based raises because of the new jobs this will entail. When new jobs are added, more taxes and insurance is required causing some places to maybe even shut their doors.

Changes after King's speech Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Changes after King's speech - Essay Example However, there is a serious claim from several critics of the social policy in America that the situation of the blacks has not changed considerably and blacks are still affected by large scale discrimination and similar tendencies. Therefore, many critics are still in disagreement about the condition of blacks in America since the great speech by Martin Luther King occurred on August 28, 1963, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. In this paper, the main focus has been an investigation of the impact of Martin Luther King speech in determining the situation of blacks who were affected greatly by discrimination and racial injustice. Therefore, it is important to note that the works and speech of Martin Luther King was in the background of severe attacks and violence on the blacks and there were several instances of discrimination and racial injustice against this group. Decades after the influential speech by King, there is a strong view that the situation of the black s has not changed considerably and discrimination against the community still exists in America today. ... The society of the Martin Luther King period is greatly understood as a fragmented community in which the situation of the blacks was not at all comfortable. There was discrimination against the blacks in every sphere of social life and the realization about this fate of the people made King perform his great activities of Civil Rights Movement and make the significant speech of "I Have a Dream". "The militancy of the civil rights movement forced Americans to recognize that the United States was a fragmented society. The forms of oppression, exploitation, and physical abuse had produced routine conditions of fear and anger among African Americans Segregated schools, buses, lunch counters, swimming pools, rest rooms, and drinking fountains were among the many aspects of public life that restricted the freedom of movement of black Americans. Discrimination in voter registration, housing, college admissions, and employment were among the aspects of public life by which blacks were releg ated to an inferior status." (Neal, 149-50) Therefore, the situation of the blacks in connection to social and racial justice was not desirable and the Civil Rights Movement was a protest against all the elements which resulted in the discrimination and racial injustice against the blacks. The blacks were no more willing to further endure the humiliations imposed on them due to the policies of the state and this resulted in acute crisis for those committed to upholding the status quo. At this time, the nation became traumatized by the developments of confrontation in its internal contradictions. The influence of Martin Luther King, the transformational orator, in affecting the condition of the blacks is beyond questions. Martin Luther King is regarded as one of
